My Carbonara

Last Saturday, me, my sister together with her husband - my brother-in-law - went to Southmall do buy cloth for my new uniform. While there Kuya Charlie decided to do a little grocery shopping so we did. My Ate Heidi wanted to cook carbonara the next day so we bought the necessary ingredients. Unfortunately, the next day, my sister wasn't in the mood to cook because she was feeling sick so she asked me to cook the carbonara instead. Here's the result:

here's my kuya charlie (brother-in-law) sampling the finished product

and that's me trying not to open my mouth too much, hahaha!

It tasted a little bland to me, but we (me, dad, ate heidi, kuya allan, kuya charlie and mom) cleared out the contents of the pot anyway... I guess it shows how much we like eating carbonara! I wonder what we would be cooking tomorrow?

Summer's Almost Over

I guess I have been too lazy to update this blog... Summer's almost over and I don't know if I'd be able to update at all when school starts next month so I decided to write a little something about what I have been doing with my time. First of all, I have already transferred to a different school, so I got busy for a couple of weeks going from my former school to the school I am transferring to, to make sure all the necessary documents are organized and then last week I enrolled already. Aside from that, I haven't done anything of significance, really... Right now, we (me, my parents and older brother) live with my eldest sister while our house is being renovated so I really don't get to go online for long periods of time for fear that my sister's electric bill would balloon to a ridiculously huge difference than what they were used to pay before we moved in. Besides, I only go online lately to watch Gossip Girl episodes (good thing my ate Heidi likes watching it too, hahaha!) so I can't really complain about getting less time to browse the net. I just like watching Blair, Nate and the rest of the Gossip Girl characters and see how the story of their upper east side life unfold...

xoxo... you know you love me... gossip girl!

Grateful

My ate Heidi and Miss Gracie tagged me with this:

I was a preemie baby. My mom was only 8 months pregnant when the doctor told her that she has to undergo emergency ceasarian or else she will lose me. Why did I start with that statement? Because the first thing that I am grateful for (and there are many) is the fact that I have loving parents... My mom risked her life so she could have me. And that's just the beginning... My Dad loves me (his youngest daughter) so much that he would endure whatever to keep me comfy. I am also grateful for being blessed with three older sisters who share with me both their knowledge and experiences so as to make life easier for me. I am grateful for a brother who although at times can be hard to be with (I often don't understand his moods) takes care of me in his own way. I am grateful for all the blessings I have been given in the 16 years I have walked this world. God has indeed been very generous when he gave me the precious gifts of a wonderful family and loyal friends. Education, my family says, is a privilege and I am thankful that this privilege was given to me too. Material things can be entertaining for a while and I do get my share of gadgets and stuff that I am thankful for but what truly touches my heart is the more lasting, more extravagant, more meaningful presents that I have been fortunate enough to be given. A life to live and people I love to share it with!

In order to be able to achieve and maintain happiness we need to, actively, be able to do two things: Complain and then let go (Dump the baggage, the roadblocks to happiness.) Express Gratitude (The open expression of gratitude promotes happiness.) After all everyone has something to be grateful for and/or something to complain about. If you would like to share, please follow the appropriate link and do so: “Are You Grateful?”, “Complain Complain Complain.”

To Transfer or Not?

I have been battling with myself these past few weeks. I have yet to decide whether I am going to switch colleges or not. There are, of course, pros and cons with whatever decision I make but I have yet to weigh them out seriously and come up with a final answer. I like the school that I am in now... I have gained lots of knowledge and friends with this school and I'd have to admit that it has grown on me already. But I was told I have better options with the school that I am thinking of moving to. It's a tough decision to make but it's one I have to do soon! This semester is practically over and I'd have to make the necessary arrangements if I decide to transfer. I hope the clouds would clear soon so I can see clearly what I need to do...

Different Look

During our personality development subject at school, we were taught not only how to conduct ourselves (you know, good moral and right conduct stuff...) but also how to present ourselves in the right way. Last Wednesday, we got to experiment with makeup. It was fun, considering I don't usually wear the stuff! I mean I'm a powder and lip balm/lip gloss kind of girl. But it was actually quite interesting to play with different looks to arrive at a look that most highlights your "assets". That's what's proper for me, just accentuating what is already there instead of masking your "real face" and getting a look that's totally "NOT YOU". It's fun to look different once in a while... be complemented and called pretty. It really is heart-warming to hear comments like "you look so grown-up with that make up on" or "you're beautiful with your eyes accentuated that way". I know not everyone would think that a certain look goes well with you but I know I felt more confident and lady-like when I got to experiment with makeup to achieve a different effect! Plus I got to get extra bonding time with friends/classmates who helped me choose colors suitable for me and even helped me put the makeup on (because some of them knew more about that stuff than I do!).

Why food?

I guess a passerby would wonder... "If this is a blog of a teenage student, why is the template about food?" Well, it's simple. I am currently studying Hotel and Restaurant Management and I hope to someday enroll in a culinary school and become a chef.

It's been a long time dream of me and my sisters to be able to open a restaurant and become business partners. Sana someday, matupad na ang dream na ito. I guess, me, studying HRM is the final step -- I'm the youngest in the family -- after me, wala na paaralin sina Mommy at Daddy. Di na masyadong "risky" to retire from a 9-5 job and start our own business. Besides, all my brother and sisters are already working and have their monthly income to depend on for a while. Maybe we can start saving for our dream after I finish my studies. Medyo matagal pa because I'm only on my freshman year pero I really am trying my best. And I really am grateful that my parents, brother and sisters are all supportive of my dreams and ambitions. I hope someday I could give it all back to them in the form of my accomplishments.

Portfolio

My current project for school is to create my own fashion portfolio.

Definitions of Portfolio:

  • a large, flat, thin case for carrying loose papers or drawings or maps;
    usually leather; "he remembered her because she was carrying a large ...
  • a set of pieces of creative work collected to be shown to potential
    customers or employers; "the artist had put together a portfolio of his work";
    "every actor has a portfolio of photographs"
  • a list of the financial assets held by an individual or a bank or other
    financial institution; "they were disappointed by the poor returns on their
    stock portfolio"
  • the role of the head of a government department; "he holds the portfolio for
    foreign affairs"

I have asked for help from my older sisters (e lahat naman ng sisters ko older, hahaha!) for me to be able to finish this... hopefully by next week, I can submit this already...
